Life imprisonment to Danish woman gang rape accused
Life imprisonment was awarded to the five convicts- Mahendra alias Ganja, Mohd Raja, Raju, Arjun, Raju Chakk, in the Danish woman gang rape case. The prosecution had argued for the same quantum of sentence, while counsel for the accused had sought the minimum sentence of 20 years as provided in the law.
Adding to this, the court also imposed fine of Rs. 83,000 each on Raju and Raju Chakka, Rs. 93,000 each on Mahender and Mohd Raja and Rs. 1,03,000 on Arjun.
The gang was found guilty after gang raping a 52 year old woman, dragging her to a deserted place, near the New Delhi Railway station. A security guard, who has seen the accused from five feet distance, while they were assaulting the victim, identified all of them in the court.
